“...Therefore go and make disciples...” (Matthew 28:19 NIV)

“If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.” - Charles Spurgeon

About the Seminar

Statistics show that less than 2% of professing Christians share their faith regularly with non-believers. Why is that? Most indicate that it is either fear or not knowing how to do it! This two-hour seminar helps to overcome both of these objections.

The agenda includes:

  • Biblical Basis for Evangelism
  • Famous Quotes
  • Using Gospel Tracts
  • Witnessing One on One
  • Recommended Resources

The seminar is presented in a small group setting using handouts, discussion and audio and video presentation. This format is ideal for Sunday School classes, small groups, youth groups, or a workshop setting! You can watch the recording of the seminar below. Or contact us to schedule a live event in person or via Zoom.

Biblical Basis for Evangelism

...Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  Acts 1:8 (NIV)

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Romans 1:16

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:13-14 (NIV)

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 (ESV)

“preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 (ESV)

Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:14-15 (ESV)

Famous Quotes

The following quotes are presented for your consideration. It is our hope and prayer that these quotes will convict you of the need to share the Gospel with others and that the Basic Evangelism Training Seminar can be a means to help you be prepared to do that.

Questions to consider:

  1. Which quote stands out to you the most? Why?

  2. What do these quotes cause you to think about?

  3. What stops us from sharing the gospel?

  4. What can we do to change this?

Typically, we find that the thing that stops people from sharing the gospel is fear. It could be fear of humiliation or fear of not knowing what to say. Or, it could simply be fear of embarrassment. The two-hour Basic Evangelism Training Seminar s designed to help overcome these fears.

“Have you no wish for others to be saved?  Then you are not saved yourself.  Be sure of that.” - Charles Spurgeon

“God save us from living in comfort while sinners are sinking into hell!” - Charles Spurgeon

“Evangelism is not a professional job for a few trained men, but is instead the unrelenting responsibility of every person who belongs to the company of Jesus.” - Elton Trueblood

“You have nothing to do but to save souls.  Therefore spend and be spent in this work.  And go not only to those that need you, but to those that need you most…It is not your business to preach so many times, and to take care of this or that society; but to save as many souls as you can; to bring as many sinners as you possibly can to repentance.” - John Wesley

“I’d rather have people hate me with the knowledge that I tried to save them.” - Keith Green

“If we claim to know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and we are not actively engaged in sharing the gospel with those with whom we come in contact, we are sinning against Him and are without excuse.” - Tony Miano

“Make it an object of constant study, and of daily reflection and prayer, to learn how to deal with sinners so as to promote their conversion.” - Charles G. Finney

“It is not our business to make the message acceptable, but to make it available.  We are not to see that they like it, but that they get it.” - Dr. Vance Havner

“How shall I feel at the judgment, if multitudes of missed opportunities pass before me in full review, and all my excuses prove to be disguises of my cowardice and pride.” - Dr. W. E. Sangster

“Oh my friends, we are loaded with countless church activities, while the real work of the church, that of evangelizing and winning the lost, is almost entirely neglected.” - Oswald J. Smith

“The task of the Church after Jesus' resurrection and ascension was to proclaim the forgiveness of sins to all nations.” - Charles Stanley

“This has been a gospel of action. Now He’s (Jesus) telling them to get into action! They are to go. And, by the way, He is saying to us today that we should be men and women of action for God. What are you doing today to get out the Word of God? That is our business, friend. You should be having some part in getting the Word of God out today.” J. Vernon McGee

"If you don't talk about Jesus, then maybe you don't love Him half as much as you think you do (if at all)." Mark Cahill

"It's not how can I share my faith, It's how can I not share my faith." Mark Cahill

“If you are not concerned about your neighbor’s salvation, then I am concerned for yours.” Ray Comfort

"Compelled by this clear biblical mandate [Matt. 28: 19-20], Christians through the centuries have taken the saving message of the gospel to the ends of the earth. It's the only reason we're still here. True Christians are already saved and sealed for eternity. There's no reason to leave us on earth, except for the responsibility of evangelism." ~ John MacArthur, Hard to Believe.

“Evangelism is an important task and a vital role for the believer to fill. As has been said, evangelism is not just the task of the church, it is its very nature.” - Lewis A. Drummond

“Evangelism is about experiencing God. If you choose to be obedient, He will take you on a journey so exciting that you life will never be the same.” - Bill Fay, Share Jesus Without Fear

“Evangelism is the cure to the disease of church boredom.” - Todd P. McCollum

“I can tell you that there is no greater joy than leading someone to faith in Jesus Christ. Even if they reject your message, it still feels great to obey Christ. Yet regardless of how we feel, we need to remember this is what He has commanded.” D. James Kennedy

“This is true friendship evangelism: a friendship that begins (not ends) with the proclamation of the gospel. It is based entirely on the gospel rather than on sporting or social events designed to sneak the gospel into the conversation at some later date.” - Jon Speed, Evangelism in the New Testament

So, when someone says, “I don’t have the gift of evangelism,” a fitting response might be, “I’, not asking you to teach the church to evangelize, or to travel to another country and share the gospel with an unreached people group. God may not have given you that responsibility. But you do have a responsibility to share the gospel, as all Christians do.” - Jon Speed, Evangelism in the New Testament

“If you want to know what mattered most to someone, read his last words. Usually, whatever a person considers to be most important is on his mind when he comes to his last days on earth. That is why we pay so much attention to last words, especially those of people important to us. As those who seek to be obedient followers of Jesus Christ, we need to know what matters most to Him so it can matter most to us. Thankfully we don’t have to wonder about it. After His resurrection from the dead, and just before His ascension back into heaven, Jesus told His disciples - and us - what was uppermost on His mind. His last words on earth are recorded for us in Matthew 28:18-20.” - Tony Evans, What Matters Most

"How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate someone to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?"  - Penn Jillette, an atheist comedian, magician, and filmmaker

“Surely our eyes have been opened to the needs around us.” (Pastor Tony, Farmers Branch, Texas)
